It's a staple in my closet and always makes the cut when I'm doing the much needed Keep or Go game. But, these red pants are the first pair of polyester pants that I've owned since I was a child in the 70s. I picked them up for less than $3 at a local thrift store. I was busy that day and forgoing the fitting room, I figured that for the price, I could afford to take the risk that they not fit. I have a shape that my mother loves and I have come to peace with. They use to call it "shapely." But, for the record, I am only "shapely" below the waist.

After laundering, I tried on these miracles of modern creation. They fit like a glove and seemed to be snug without pulling. Elastic waist band and all, I had found the best fitting pants I believe I ever owned. They will never fade. They resist staining. They're durable and stretch enough for you to do some cartwheels should you feel so inclined. And these pants, in particular, bring a pop of color that makes me happy to just slide them on over my shapely bottom half. Who knows what size they are, it appears to have worn off some time ago. It wouldn't really matter, though. Vintage clothing was not sized the same as clothing today. For example, in most vintage clothing, I regularly wear a size 14. In modern sizes, I am somewhere around a 6 to 8. This is a good thing to remember if you ever buy a vintage item off of Etsy or other website. The measurements are often listed as inches when the garment is lying flat so the waist measurement of 15 inches means that it would be 30 inches around.

So, consider adding a little bit of joy into your wardrobe and begin a conversation with my newest friend Poly Ester!
